Here’s how to disable and enable hibernate on Windows 10
What is Hibernate?
Hibernate is a state which allows your computer to startup faster, because it takes a snapshot of your system’s files and drivers and saves the snapshot to your hard drive before shutting down. This allows quicker loading of your computer when you startup again, because it doesn’t need to re-establish those files and settings.
How to Hibernate
If your Start menu in Windows 10 does not contain the Hibernate option, you need to do the following:
- Open Control Panel
- Click HARDWARE AND SOUND/POWER OPTIONS
- Click CHOOSE WHAT POWER BUTTONS DO
- Click CHANGE SETTINGS THAT ARE CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE and the shutdown options will be editable
- Check the HIBERNATE (SHOW IN POWER MENU) option
You can now access the hibernate option from the shutdown menu in the start menu.
NOTE: If you start menu alread contains the hibernate option, no need to follow these steps. Just go ahead and hibernate right after reading this article.
Your case is settled!
