Samsung has launched the W2019. It was launched at a launch event in China.
It runs on Android and packs some high-end specs. It has two 4.2-inch 1920×1080 Super AMOLED displays, one external and one internal, and it has a fingerprint reader on its side. It is not water resistant and has no face recognition option. Its dimensions are 132.9 x 63.4 x 17.3 mm has a weight of 257 grams. It has 2 colour variants (rose gold and platinum). The rear side of the phone is made out of Corning Gorilla Glass.
It has an 8 Megapixel front-facing camera (with no front flash) and it has a horizontally arranged 12-megapixel + 12-megapixel dual rear camera module which are equipped with features like OIS, face detection, auto-focus, geotagging, 2x optical zoom, 4K video shooting at 60 fps and dual-tone LED flash. It also supports recording of Full HD slow motion videos at 960 fps.
Under the hood
It has Android 8.1 Oreo operating system as the primary software in the device, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset is present under the hood with a process technology 10nm. The CPU is Octa-core 4 x 2.8 GHz 385 Kyro plus 4 x 1.8 GHz Kyro 385. It has an Adreno 630 GPU. These run on 64-bit architecture. Its sensors include accelerometer, proximity, light, fingerprint. It comes in storage choices of 128 GB and 256 GB. Its supported networks are GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, HSPA, LTE and there are 2G, 3G, and 4G internet connectivity in the device. Other connectivity options in the device are Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, mobile hotspot, GPS, A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC. It has a dual sim port with the second port being a hybrid sim port.
The Samsung W2019 has a 3070 mAh Li-Ion non-removable battery which has both wireless and fast charging technology. The battery life can supposedly last on standby for upto 280 hours.
The Samsung W2019 price starts at roughly 2735US$ for the base 128GB storage version. There will be a Platinum Golden Collector’s Edition whose price will be announced soon.
